So the dream truly has become a reality for our Inah! After much Blood, sweat, toil and tears, Inah began her Australian quest. Well, there was really no blood but we sure had toil and tears and we sweat it out to come up with the needed funding! Nevermind if the family had to shoulder about half the cost (sob...)! The more important thing was Y-O-U helped. We would have gone mad by now if we didn't get helped from you guys. To those who didn't heed our call, hmmm we hope you wouldn't be in a situation like ours where we had to beg and be ignored! Har, har, har... Oh well.
Inah and the entire California People to People delegation left the United States on June 26, 2007 via Sacramento-Los Angeles-Sydney. After about 13 hours flying, they landed on Sydney, Australia Airport. And so starts their 20-day adventure! All is well right? WRONG!
After a couple of days, we received a call from Inah rattling in her frantic voice that her luggage didn't make it to Australia or that her luggage may have been stolen or lost! Among her group of 36, she's the only one without luggage. What are the odds of that?! Worse, she has the same clothes on for the last two days! She washed it and all BUT same clothes. Their schedule have been so strict and tight that there was no time to really shop for clothes! Poor Inah. She being a bonafide "fashionista". She who meticulously picked her outfits to wear from day 1 to day 20. She who had a 'dress rehearsal' of all her outfits. She who emailed me the 'dress rehearsal' photos asked for my opinion if the shirt was a match for her khaki pants, or if which pants go with what... She had nothing to wear in Australia because her luggage is nowhere to be found! Mom made calls to the airline and to the delegation leader to know what's going on. Meanwhile, the People to people gave her emergency money to buy for clothes on the 3rd day! To make the story long err short, she was reunited with her luggage after being in Australia for days!!
The good part was she was commended for her good behavior because she remained calm and composed through the whole thing. She wasn't freaking out, screaming or panicky or hysterical when she learned that her stuff's gone missing- as some spoiled kid may have reacted! Deep inside, Inah was going crazy! They had no i-dea! hehe
Well, she is having a blast in Australia and really learning alot! She will bombard us with her stories, in her own words via this website and her blog when she comes home. I just thought I should update you of her progress there for the time being.
